The Therapist was part of the Greyson Perry Curated 250th Summer exhibition at the Royal Academy. The Lovers part of ‘Contemporaries InPrint’ at 5th Base Gallery, London.
Pastiching four of Margritte’s paintings, His motif, the hidden face has particular relevance today in the digital age.
Working initially with photography and digital software each image involves weeks of construction before printing an initial layer. Chemicals are then used to freely corrode the print, contrasting the ordered, precise construction of the digital aesthetic with an uncontrolled natural decay. Using these organic elements to re-construct the work each piece is editioned using the highest quality archival digital pigment inks and printed on textured Hahnemühle papers producing a deep and painterly feel.
